Trained Health Workers Alerted to Support Urban Farming

The Jakarta Health Agency prepares trained health workers in each community health centers (puskesmasI) in a bit to support the community in developing urban farming.

They have been trained in traditional health services, such as toga training

They will assist the community in the use of family medicinal plants (Toga) as an independent effort to maintain and improve family health.

"They have been trained in traditional health services, such as toga training," said Jakarta Health Agency Head, Widyastuti, Monday (8/5).

There are many varieties of Toga plants that can be planted and utilized, such as Ginger for coughing, breathing relief, colds and headaches. The way is by pounding and brewed it with hot water until it settles. After that it can be drunk while still warm.

There are also Lemongrass that acts to control blood pressure, prevent free radicals, Temulawak can slow the process of spreading the hepatitis virus and Saga Leaves can treat mouth ulcers and other oral problems such as tonsils, bad breath and sputum thinners.

"Each puskesmas has one until two health workers," she told.

Through urban farming, he furthered, citizens can also eat organic vegetables and fruits, as well as improve children's nutrition. 

"Its existence must be intensified in the residential and office environment. It can make the mind relax and minimize the potential for stress," he said.

Aside that the plants can also improve air quality in Jakarta that brings an impact on improving our health.
